Heretics decides to part ways with RUBINO from VALORANT roster

RUBINO Leaves Heretics’ VALORANT Roster

Pro VALORANT player Ruben “RUBINO” Villarroel is no longer with Heretics, the Spanish organization announced today.

RUBINO is known for his time in CS:GO from 2014 to 2020, playing for organizations like Dignitas, North, and Heroic. The 27-year-old retired from CS:GO and joined Heretics in January 2021, transitioning to VALORANT.

RUBINO joined Heretics as their sixth player in the VALORANT roster, but the team reduced to five players in March when Dustyn “niesoW” Durnas took a break from competitive play. RUBINO attended six VCT events with Heretics, including qualifiers, and helped the team finish as runners-up at the VCT Europe Stage One Masters event, where they were upset by Acend.

On May 4, RUBINO was benched after Heretics failed to qualify for the VCT Europe Stage Two Challengers Two, losing 2-0 to G2. Since then, he has been actively seeking a new team. With RUBINO’s departure, Heretics’ roster now consists of six players: Christian “lowel” Garcia, Ondřej “MONSTEERR” Petrů, Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks, Patryk “paTiTek” Fabrowski, Felix “al0rante” Brandl, and niesoW, who remains on the bench.

Apart from lowel, the only member of Heretics’ original VALORANT lineup, the other four starting players joined in June as part of the organization’s effort to regain their position in the European scene. Heretics won the First Strike Europe championship in December 2020, but reportedly lost the 70 VCT points they earned from VCT Europe Stage One Masters due to the roster changes.
