Guild Esports falls short in VCT EU Challengers qualifier final with overtime loss due to delayed spike plant

Guild Esports’ VALORANT team suffers heartbreaking loss in overtime

Guild Esports’ VALORANT team faced a devastating loss in today’s game. The final map of the VALORANT Champions Tour EU Challengers Two open qualifier match went into overtime, with Fnatic holding a one-round lead. It seemed that the fate of both teams would be determined by a two-vs-two showdown, but disaster struck.

Yacine Laghmari, holding the spike, missed the four-second cutoff for planting by a fraction of a second. The spike was planted just after the round timer ended, resulting in a heartbreaking 14-12 victory for Fnatic on Split and a 2-1 series win.

The casters, Michael “hypoc” Robins and Lauren “Pansy” Scott, were left speechless. The chat response ranged from laughter to confusion and sadness.

This closely contested final map reflected the intensity of the entire series between Fnatic and Guild. Yacine’s explosive performance on Raze was instrumental in Guild’s convincing victory on their first map, as well as in forcing overtime in map three.

With this win, Fnatic advances to the closed qualifier for EU Challengers Two, where they will face FunPlus Phoenix. Guild, on the other hand, will have to go through another open qualifier in Challengers Three.
