Eight Women’s VALORANT Teams Qualify for VCT Game Changer Series

Eight women’s VALORANT teams have qualified for the second VCT Game Changer Series after a challenging double-elimination open qualifier. The tournament, starting on Thursday, June 24, will feature the best women’s teams in North America competing in a four-day double-elimination bracket with a prize pool of $50,000.

VCT Game Changers: Promoting Diversity in VALORANT

The VCT Game Changers initiative was introduced as a supplementary competitive environment for the VALORANT Champions Tour. Its purpose is to provide opportunities and exposure for women and other marginalized genders within the VALORANT community. In the previous VCT Game Changers Series, Cloud9 White emerged as the dominant team, sweeping through the upper bracket without dropping a single map.

Stream Information

The matches will primarily be streamed on the official VALORANT channel. However, during the first two days, multiple matches will be played simultaneously, and a secondary stream will be available on the VALORANT Esports NA Twitch channel. The matches will also be streamed on the Dignitas and RadiantGG Twitch channels. Additionally, popular streamers such as TSM Myth, 100T Kyedae, QuarterJade, MissHarvey, and more will be co-streaming the event.

Tournament Format

The eight teams will compete in a double-elimination bracket, with seeding based on their performance in the open qualifier and their map records. This will be the first official Riot-supported event to include the map Breeze in the active map pool. All matches, except for the grand finals, will be best-of-three. The grand finals will be a best-of-five. The tournament will also adopt the new map pick-and-ban format introduced in Stage Three of the VCT, where each team will ban one map and pick another, and the higher seed will choose sides on both maps. The third map will be determined through a pre-event rankings vote.

Key Storylines

Cloud9 White, the undefeated team from the previous Game Changers series, finally lost a map during the open qualifier for Series Two. However, they quickly rallied to secure a top seed in the main event. Other teams competing include familiar faces from the first series like Shopify Rebellion, TSM Female, Dignitas Female, and CLG Red. The map Breeze, which has had limited impact so far, could play a pivotal role for Shopify Rebellion, who has shown success on it. KAY/O will not be available during the event, and matches will be played on Patch 2.11.
