Riot Games Teases Gameplay Review of Upcoming Tactical Shooter VALORANT

As fans eagerly await the release of Riot Games’ VALORANT, the developer has treated them to a gameplay review. The review sheds light on the game’s mechanics and features, keeping fans satisfy their curiosity.

VALORANT takes inspiration from CS:GO rather than Overwatch, with its gunplay, movement, and abilities. Players will have the option to purchase different weapons to enhance their strengths or cover their weaknesses.

The objective in VALORANT is heavily influenced by CS:GO. Teams of five players face off against each other, with one team planting the Spike (bomb) while the other team tries to defuse it.

Although each agent possesses unique skills and abilities, they function as consumable resources in VALORANT, unlike the abilities in Overwatch which have cooldowns and unlimited usage.

The abilities of each agent serve different purposes. In CS:GO, throwable items like grenades and Molotov cocktails are used for zoning, whereas in VALORANT, characters can create toxic green walls or floating wind bubbles to block off pathways.

Since abilities are limited and require currency, players will need to strategically decide when to use them. Currency can be earned by completing objectives such as eliminating opponents or planting and defusing the Spike.

All the purchasing options are conveniently located in the buy menu, providing easy access to equipment and information. The menu is designed with columns and rows to separate different types of equipment, and Shields offer protection similar to Kevlar in CS:GO.

In terms of mobility, VALORANT is not as fast-paced as Overwatch. Players must exercise caution when moving around, and the crouch and aim gunplay is reminiscent of CS:GO.

VALORANT will feature dedicated 128-tick servers for all players, which is a rare choice for FPS esports and online servers. This ensures smooth and consistent gameplay for all players, enhancing the competitive experience.

The first gameplay preview has been released on VALORANT’s official YouTube channel, hinting at more content to be unveiled by the developers before the game’s official release this summer.
