George’s VCT LOCK//IN predictions for Alpha quarterfinals: Cloud9 aims to defeat DRX, Evil Geniuses set to advance

The finals of the Alpha bracket in VCT LOCK//IN will feature a showdown between North America and Asia.

Today’s first match will be between Cloud9 and DRX, two strong teams from their respective regions. Evil Geniuses will face Talon Esports on the other side of the bracket.

Cloud9 vs. DRX

Cloud9, the North American team, showcased an impressive performance in their first match against Paper Rex, defying expectations. Surprisingly, the standout players were leaf and Xeppaa, rather than yay and Zellsis. This is a rare occurrence as yay is usually at the top of the scoreboard.

On the other hand, DRX looked dominant in their opening map against BBL Esports, although the Turkish team posed a challenge in the following maps. Rb and stax played exceptionally well and secured the victory for DRX. Rb’s performance was particularly noteworthy, as he finished the third map with only nine deaths.

This match is expected to be close, but Cloud9 may come out on top in the end.

George’s prediction: 2-1 Cloud9

Evil Geniuses vs. Talon Esports

Evil Geniuses displayed a solid performance in their first match against a struggling Heretics team and won with a 2-0 sweep. Ethan’s exceptional play played a significant role in the team’s victory. Heretics managed to secure 16 rounds across both maps.

Ethan, not typically recognized for his dueling abilities, surprised everyone by using Yoru in the first map, Pearl, against Heretics. He finished the match with an impressive average combat score of 305 and an average damage per round of 180, according to VLR.gg.

Talon Esports had a slightly closer match against MIBR but still managed to secure a 2-0 victory. The strong players from the former XERXIA roster, such as foxz and Sushiboys, performed well against the struggling Brazilian side.

However, the North American teams have been dominant in the tournament so far, and I don’t expect that to change today.

George’s prediction: 2-0 Evil Geniuses
