Gen.G Eliminated from VCT 2022 after Losing to Built By Gamers Academy

Gen.G Exits VALORANT Champions Tour After Upset Loss to Built By Gamers Academy

Gen.G has been eliminated from the VALORANT Champions Tour after a surprising defeat to Built By Gamers Academy.

Gen.G’s journey in the VCT came to an end after their failure to qualify for the main events in both Challengers main events this year. Earlier this year, Gen.G made changes to their VALORANT roster by removing koosta and gMd, who were long-standing members. However, these roster changes did not translate into positive results, similar to T1.

After their disappointing performance in the first Challengers main event, Gen.G added jcStani and PureR, who previously played for 100 Thieves and XSET respectively. These additions were expected to be improvements for the team. Despite these changes, Gen.G struggled in the open qualifiers for the second Challengers event. They started by losing their opening match against SoaR, which relegated them to the lower bracket. Losing the first match meant that they had to win six consecutive best-of-three matches in order to qualify for the main event.

Gen.G managed to defeat Lenny Time, Moon Raccoons, and VIRTUOSO before facing Built By Gamers Academy in the lower bracket. However, their valiant effort to climb back up turned into a disappointing end to their VCT run in 2022. Adding insult to injury, Gen.G can only watch their former member, gMd, play in the Challengers main event with TSM.

By missing out on the main events of the NA Challengers in both Stage One and Stage Two, Gen.G failed to earn any circuit points. As a result, they will not be able to qualify for the Last Chance Qualifier at the end of the year. The Last Chance Qualifier serves as a final opportunity for teams across different regions to secure the last remaining spots at the Champions event.

With 2022 behind them, Gen.G will have to regroup and prepare for the next year’s edition of the VCT.
