Gen.G benched entire VALORANT roster during VCT 2023 partnership application process

Gen.G Esports Sets VALORANT Player jcStani to Inactive; Looks for New Opportunities

Gen.G Esports has placed its final remaining VALORANT player, Noah “jcStani” Smith, on the inactive list. jcStani is now considered a restricted free agent and is actively searching for new opportunities, the player announced. Gen.G is still under consideration for a VALORANT partnership in 2023.

Currently, jcStani and teammate Nicholas “NaturE” Garrison are the only VALORANT players under contract at Gen.G. However, the Gen.G Black women’s roster is still active. jcStani and NaturE were previously teammates on Immortals in early 2021 before reuniting on Gen.G in April 2022. Both players are now actively seeking new teams.

Before joining Gen.G, jcStani had stints with Andbox and Pioneers. He also played on loan for 100 Thieves during the NA VCT Stage One, filling in after the release of ec1s and BabyJ. While with 100 Thieves, jcStani helped the team secure a win against Evil Geniuses in the final week of Stage One. Although he briefly continued to play with 100 Thieves in smaller events, he was ultimately left out of the roster for Stage Two. NaturE has been serving as the IGL for Gen.G since May 2021.

Gen.G experienced some success in the 2021 VCT, making appearances at several Challengers main events and even securing a third-place finish at Masters One. However, with multiple roster changes, the team fell short in the open qualifiers for both VCT 2022 Challengers main events.

Despite the challenges faced this year, Gen.G’s commitment to VALORANT remains strong. According to a report by , Riot Games recently notified Gen.G that they have advanced to the next round of the partnership application process. Gen.G is alongside Sentinels, XSET, TSM, Cloud9, and others. Riot Games plans to include “six to eight” spots for North American teams in the 2023 Americas league, as well as teams from South America and Latin America.
