G2 Esports recruits ex-Sentinels’ top talents to finalize VALORANT team

G2 Esports Signs New VALORANT Players for North American Challengers League

European organization G2 Esports has enlisted five players for their VALORANT team to compete in the upcoming North American Challengers league, according to multiple sources.

The new roster is headlined by former Sentinels stars Michael “dapr” Gulino and Shahzeb “ShahZam” Khan. They will be joined by other notable players from last year’s VALORANT Champions Tour in North America, including Erik Penny and Maxim “wippie” Shepelev from former team Version1. Additionally, former Dark Ratio player “Oxy” will complete the roster, as reported by sources.

Rahul “curry” Nemani, a former Cloud9 player, was also tried out for the new roster.

Ian “Immi” Harding, the previous head coach for Version1, will be leading the team, as previously reported on Oct. 27 by .

Due to the organization’s inability to secure a partnership with Riot Games, G2 Esports will be competing in the Challengers league instead of the Americas international league.

However, G2 Esports still has the chance to qualify for the international league. In the upcoming year, the Challengers circuit will allow top teams from outside the league to compete for a spot in Ascension, a new circuit.

Ascension in the Americas region will bring together the best Challengers teams from North America, Latin America, and South America to compete against each other. The top team from this circuit will earn a spot in the international league in 2024.

ShahZam and dapr will likely seek revenge against their former organization under G2 Esports, while penny and wippie could face off against their former teammates on Cloud9 if G2 qualifies for the Americas international league.
