G2 allows VALORANT players to consider offers after VCT partnership setback

G2 Esports VALORANT Players to Explore Options After Failing to Secure Franchise Spot

G2 Esports has allowed its VALORANT players to explore options after failing to secure a spot in the franchised league for 2023. This decision comes as a consequence of the controversy surrounding CEO Carlos Rodriguez and his association with known misogynist Andrew Tate.

Player Intentions to Move:

Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas, Aaro “hoody” Peltokangas, Johan “Meddo” Renbjörk, Žygimantas “nukkye” Chmieliauskas, Auni “AvovA” Chahade have all announced their intentions to join another team for the upcoming season. These players are currently still under contract with G2, making them restricted free agents.

G2 Esports’ Future in VALORANT:

It remains unclear whether G2 Esports will continue to compete in VALORANT. The organization has not announced its plans to participate in the Challengers circuit or if it will take a break from the scene until it secures a spot in the partnership circuit.

Mixwell has been with G2 since June 2020, while nukkye joined in June 2021 from Heretics. Meddo and hoody were signed in December 2021 after their time with Giants Gaming.

Mixwell experienced the most success with G2, who were dominant in Europe in 2020. However, the team struggled in subsequent years after the introduction of the VALORANT Champions Tour.
