Fracture: VALORANT’s Latest Map Introduces an H-Shape Layout and Expands Mirrorverse Lore

Riot Games Confirms New VALORANT Map “Fracture”

Riot Games has officially announced the addition of the seventh VALORANT map, called “Fracture”. This new map introduces unique landscapes and a fresh approach to the traditional attack-and-defend structure. Fracture features an H-shape layout that allows attackers to approach defenders from multiple angles. Furthermore, the map incorporates environmental and visual elements to expand on VALORANT’s mirrorverse lore.

A Breakdown of Fracture’s Design

Fracture’s visual landscape is designed to depict an accident that resulted in a rift-induced “fracture” and the aftermath of a failed covert experiment. The A site showcases an arid desert and dilapidated facilities, while the B site is overrun with lush foliage taking over a science facility. In the middle of the map, players can expect a broken reactor and long ziplines that connect different routes. The unique H-shape layout places the defenders’ spawn in the middle, exposing them to attacks from both sides and encouraging players to rethink their strategies.

Integrating Lore into Fracture

Fracture serves as players’ first exposure to the Mirror Earth Kingdom and provides “heavy tie-ins” to the VALORANT lore. The map allows players to delve deeper into the ongoing conflict between the twin worlds introduced in the Duality cinematic, revealing that the conflict may not be as clear-cut as it initially seemed.

Fracture is set to release in Episode Three, Act Two alongside Patch 3.05 on September 8th.
