Former players reveal NYFU’s departure from VALORANT

NYXL Leaves VALORANT as Franchise Position is Denied

The New York Excelsior (NYXL), also known as ANDBOX, has decided to leave the competitive scene of VALORANT after being denied a franchise position by Riot Games.

NYXL, the parent company of the New York Subliners in the Call of Duty League and the New York Excelsior in the Overwatch League, recently rebranded as NYFU in anticipation of the VALORANT franchising announcement. NYFU had been participating in open qualifiers and tournaments to secure their spot in the league.

However, right before their scheduled match against Version1 in the MEL Premiership S3 group stage, NYFU disbanded unexpectedly. NYFU player Chad “Oderus” Miller took to Twitter to announce the disbandment and express his intention to find a new team.

In his tweet, Oderus stated, “With NYFU leaving VALORANT means I’ll be LFT. I have experience on every role but prefer IGL/Sentinel. Thank you to NYXL for being an incredible organization and hope nothing but the best for them.”

While Oderus and his teammates search for a new team, NYXL has not made an official statement regarding their departure from VALORANT. The last communication from NYXL about VALORANT was their announcement of intending to apply for a franchise spot in North America. However, since then, several other teams have withdrawn after being denied a position for the upcoming year.
