Fnatic Reportedly to Bench MAGNUM, Insider Sources Say

Fnatic Moves Martin “MAGNUM” Penkov to Inactive VALORANT Roster

Fnatic, the European organization, has decided to move Martin “MAGNUM” Penkov to their inactive roster, according to a source familiar with the decision. This move comes after Fnatic’s disappointing performance at the VCT Masters in Reykjavík, Iceland, where they finished joint-last. To make matters worse, Fnatic had to rely on two stand-ins, Joona “H1ber” Parviainen and Enzo “Fearoth” Mestari, due to Derke’s COVID-19 infection and Braveaf’s temporary suspension.

Challenges Faced at VCT Masters

Just before the event, Derke contracted COVID-19, which delayed his arrival. To add to the team’s troubles, screenshots emerged showing Braveaf’s alleged support of the war in Ukraine, resulting in his temporary suspension. With these setbacks, Fnatic struggled against Ninjas in Pyjamas and ZETA Division, failing to win a single map at the tournament.

Upcoming VCT EMEA Stage Two

Despite their disappointing performance, Fnatic will be competing in the VCT EMEA Stage Two, scheduled to begin soon after VCT Masters concludes on April 24th. The team will have the opportunity to redeem themselves and show their true potential.

A Look Back at MAGNUM’s Success

Martin “MAGNUM” Penkov joined Fnatic alongside Derke on April 9th last year. He quickly proved his worth, helping Fnatic secure first place in the VCT Stage Two Challengers Two regular season on April 19, 2021.
