Fnatic Makes Bench Move in VALORANT Roster, Removing Tsackk

Fnatic Benches Tsack Following Disappointing Start to VALORANT Champions Tour

Fnatic, one of the top teams in the 2021 VALORANT Champions Tour, has decided to make a roster change. Kostas “tsack” Theodoropoulos announced today that he has been benched. Tsack expressed that “after all these bad results something had to change.”

In the first stage of the VCT, Fnatic lost all three of their matches in the Challengers main events. They were defeated by Wave Esports, FunPlus Phoenix, and Ballista Esports.

Their start to the second phase of the VCT was even more disappointing. They made it to the round-of-16 of the open qualifier, but fell short against Alliance in two maps, including a heartbreaking loss in overtime on Haven.

With the new format for phase two, Fnatic has lost its chance to secure a spot in the EMEA Challengers Finals. Only four teams from Europe can reach the final, and Fnatic will have to play through open qualifiers again for EU Challengers Two and finish in the top two at the main event to secure a spot in the Challengers Final. They would then have to finish in the top two at that event to advance to Masters in Iceland.

In 2020, Fnatic’s future members were the hottest free agents in VALORANT after they reached the grand finals of First Strike as SUMN FC. They put themselves on the map with an impressive reverse sweep victory over FPX before falling to Team Heretics in the grand finals. Two months later, they were signed by Fnatic.

The main event for EU Challengers One resumes on April 6, and open qualifiers for Challengers Two start on April 10. Fnatic has a week to fill the open slot in their lineup.
