Introducing the VALORANT Regional Leagues (VLRs) for EMEA VCT 2022
EMA VCT is expanding its VALORANT ecosystem in 2022 with the addition of the VALORANT Regional Leagues (VLRs). These leagues provide a highly competitive platform for talent development in regional VALORANT esports, giving players a chance to showcase their skills with a national twist.
Regional Leagues Overview
According to Riot Games, the following leagues will be launched in 2022:
- Spain (Players from Portugal and Italy also eligible)
- France (Players from Benelux also eligible)
- U.K., Ireland, and Nordics
- Poland and EE (Players from Israel also eligible)
- CIS
- MENA
- Turkey
- DACH
Each of the eight leagues will be operated by Riot’s partner organizers and will consist of two stages: regular season and playoffs.
Qualification and Championship Opportunities
After the first stage, the winner of each regional league will qualify for the VCT promotion tournament. In the second stage, the winners of the regional leagues will qualify for the regional league EMEA finals. The number of qualifiers and available slots may vary based on the promotion tournament results.
Throughout the season, teams can participate in individual competitions to earn circuit points. At the end of the season, the teams with the most points will compete for the title of regional circuit champions.

Riot aims to provide highly skilled players with deeply satisfying competitive experiences through the regional leagues. These leagues also offer VALORANT fans the chance to support their national teams.
The VALORANT regional circuits are designed to be inclusive and accessible, allowing players of all skill levels to participate in organized competition at a local level. Jonathan Tilbury, the EMEA esports competitive experience manager, emphasized Riot’s long-term goal of providing a regional circuit for all VALORANT players, empowering local communities and nurturing future professionals.
The 2022 VLR season will kick off with qualifiers on January 24, 2022, followed by the first split during the week of February 14.
