Experienced Call of Duty Pro Makes History in VALORANT Esports

Retired French Call of Duty Pro Wailers to Compete in VALORANT

Wailers Locart, a retired French Call of Duty professional, is set to represent Gentle Mates in the VCT EMEA top flight next year after sweeping Apeks 3-0 in the promotion final of the VALORANT Champions Tour EMEA Ascension tournament. Wailers, who played at four CoD World League Championships in the late 2020s, expressed his excitement after the team’s victory.

Wailers’ Transition from CoD to VALORANT

Wailers’ move to PC has drawn comparisons to Nifty, who successfully transitioned from Call of Duty to CS:GO in 2015. Wailers has a long history in CoD, dating back to Advanced Warfare in 2015. He represented Team Vitality at the inaugural CWL Pro Division and achieved success in various CoD Challengers teams before making the switch to VALORANT.

Success in VALORANT and Future Plans

Wailers and Gentle Mates secured the VCT EMEA promotion slot after dominating the Challengers: Revolution splits. Although they faced setbacks in the playoffs, the team bounced back in the lower bracket and achieved back-to-back sweeps in the grand final. They will make their VCT EMEA International League debut next year. Additionally, they will participate in the Challengers Revolution Coupe de France in September.

Conclusion

Wailers’ transition from console to PC and from one esport to another is impressive. It remains to be seen if he and his team can continue their success in VALORANT and compete against the top teams in the region.
