Expanding VCT Game Changers to Japan – VCT Tournament Growth

Game Changers initiative expands to Japan

The VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Game Changers program, which aims to promote gender diversity in esports, is expanding its reach to Japan. Riot Games, the developer of VALORANT, announced on Friday that the Game Changers program will be launched in Japan in collaboration with Riot Games Japan and CyberAgent.

Game Changers was originally introduced in North America in 2021 as a way to provide more opportunities and support for women and other marginalized genders to compete in the esports scene. The program has since expanded to Latin America, Brazil, Southeast Asia, Korea, and now Japan.

The Japanese Game Changers program will consist of a series of online tournaments, providing female and marginalized gender players with a platform to showcase their skills in VALORANT. The top teams from these tournaments will then have the chance to compete in a live tournament, with the winning team receiving a spot in the VALORANT Champions Tour main event in Japan.

Riot Games Japan is partnering with CyberAgent, a leading Japanese internet services company, to execute the Game Changers events in Japan. The collaboration aims to leverage CyberAgent’s experience in esports promotion and event management to create a successful and inclusive environment for participants.

The Game Changers expansion to Japan is part of Riot Games’ ongoing commitment to supporting diversity and inclusivity in esports. By providing dedicated opportunities for female and marginalized gender players, the company aims to create a more representative and equal industry.

The Japanese esports community has been growing rapidly in recent years, with talented players emerging across various game titles. The Game Changers program in Japan will provide a platform for these players to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level.

With the launch of the Game Changers program in Japan, Riot Games is taking another step forward in its effort to promote inclusivity, diversity, and gender equality in esports. By expanding the program to new regions, more players have the opportunity to participate and make their mark in the competitive gaming scene.
