Bonkar to Join Oxygen Esports’ VALORANT Coaching Staff to Enhance Team

Oxygen Esports in Talks to Sign VALORANT Player Bonkar as Head Coach

North American organization Oxygen Esports is in discussions to sign European VALORANT player Malkolm “bonkar” Rench, sources have confirmed.

Retirement as a Player, Promotion to Head Coach

Bonkar is ready to retire as a professional player in order to take on the role of head coach for Oxygen Esports. The current head coach, Preston “Juv3nile” Dornon, will step aside for this move.

Oxygen’s Upcoming Challenges

Tonight, Oxygen will compete with Bonkar as their head coach in a match against Shopify Rebellion in the VALORANT Challengers League. Following this match against one of the top North American teams, Oxygen faces tough opponents including G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, and Turtle Troop in the coming weeks.

Bonkar’s Successful Stint and Retirement

Bonkar recently retired from professional VALORANT after three years. He had a relatively successful time with Ninjas in Pyjamas in 2020 before joining Guild Esports for nearly a year until late 2021.

During his period with Guild, Bonkar and his team finished in second place in the VCT 2021: Europe Stage 2 Challengers 1, which took place in April of that year. They were defeated by FunPlus Phoenix in the grand final.

Oxygen’s Struggles in the Challengers League

Oxygen has been facing challenges in the Challengers league. In their first match against BreakThru, they experienced two consecutive comebacks by the opposition. Despite leading 9-3 at halftime on both Ascent and Breeze, BreakThru managed to win 2-0 against Oxygen.

Current Standings and Round Advantage

Oxygen is currently ranked slightly above FaZe and Turtle Troop in Group A, with a round advantage.
