Esports Organization with Rich History Allegedly Relocating Once Again to Capitalize on Chinese VALORANT Trend

Ninjas in Pyjamas Moves VALORANT Division to China

Esports organization Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) is making a significant move by relocating its VALORANT division from Brazil to China. The team aims to join the upcoming VCT China league, an emerging region in the esports scene. NiP has a long-standing presence in the gaming world, with notable achievements in games like League of Legends and CS:GO.

In recent years, NiP expanded its operations to China by acquiring the Chinese organization Victory Five and securing a slot in the prestigious LPL (League of Legends Pro League). Considered one of the top-tier competitions in the world, LPL has seen China’s dominance, winning the League of Legends World Championship three out of the last five years. Now, NiP looks to capitalize on the rising popularity of VALORANT in China.

Having initially entered the VALORANT scene in April 2020 before the game’s official release, NiP struggled to achieve success in Europe. Despite featuring promising talent, they fell short of breaking into the top tier and faced early exits in EMEA Challengers tournaments.

In 2022, NiP shifted its focus to Brazil, where the organization had previously found success in Rainbow Six Siege. The team made notable appearances in major tournaments like Masters Reykjavík and showed potential against top teams. However, they narrowly missed out on qualifying for Masters Copenhagen and ultimately failed to secure a partnership with VCT Americas for 2023, unlike other prominent Brazilian organizations.

According to reports, NiP may be targeting the roster of JijieHao, an organization that currently works with NiP as its academy team in the LPL. This strategic move could help NiP establish a strong presence in the growing Chinese VALORANT scene.
