Evil Geniuses is getting closer to finalizing its highly anticipated 10-man VALORANT roster for the upcoming 2023 VALORANT Champions Tour season. The organization has just announced the signing of Kyle “ScrewFace” Jensen, formerly of DarkZero Esports, leaving only one spot to be filled.

Almost Complete: EG’s VALORANT Roster Takes Shape

The addition of ScrewFace brings the total number of players signed to the main VALORANT roster of Evil Geniuses to nine. The majority of these players are committed to the team through the 2024 season, according to the global contract database.

EG’s Progress in Building a Strong VALORANT Roster

Back in November, Evil Geniuses revealed its plan to field a 10-player team after joining the VCT Americas league. The organization took its first step towards this goal by signing former NRG player Ethan Arnold and former XSET player Brendan “BcJ” Jensen. They joined the existing roster members, Kelden “Boostio” Pupello, Jeffrey “Reformed” Lu, Alexander “jawgemo” Mor, Corbin “C0M” Lee, and Vincent “Apotheon” Le, who have been part of the starting lineup since 2022.

Recently, Evil Geniuses also brought in Max “Demon1” Mazanov, a promising young talent, shortly before signing ScrewFace.

ScrewFace’s Journey to Evil Geniuses

ScrewFace had spent over a year with DarkZero after joining the Kooky Koalas roster in June 2021. However, the team struggled to achieve success in NA VCT play, and the organization eventually left the VALORANT scene in 2022.

EG’s Strategic Approach to VALORANT

Evil Geniuses’ approach to VALORANT resembles its strategy in Counter-Strike, where the organization signed two previously unaffiliated NA CS:GO teams to form a 15-man roster. The intention is to rotate players and compete in various tournaments using the main roster and two “academy” lineups.

However, since partnered teams are not allowed to have academy rosters in VALORANT, the 10-man roster will need to explore other options. It remains unclear whether they will rely on internal scrims, maintain a fluid roster to surprise opponents, or stockpile talent to potentially sell to other teams midseason.

Evil Geniuses still has one final spot to fill in their VALORANT roster.
