Effective Strategies and Top Agents for Winning Attack on Split in VALORANT

Split is one of the most controversial maps in VALORANT. It has been a challenge for attackers since the game’s closed beta and remains imbalanced despite balance changes.

For those struggling to come up with effective strategies on the attacking side of Split, we have you covered. Here is our guide to attacking on Split.

The basics of Split in VALORANT

Split is known for its verticality, featuring multiple levels, ropes, and sudden drops. Defenders have the advantage of controlling the high ground, making it challenging for attackers. High-ground control allows for better assessment and planning of attacks.

Attacking without gaining high-ground control often leads to defenders easily retaking the site. Our strategies focus on gaining high-ground control as attackers and cutting off high-ground areas to reduce the advantage of defenders.

The best agents for attacking on Split are Omen and Astra. Omen’s teleportation ability allows for easy movement between high and low ground, as well as using cover effectively. Astra’s smoke placement flexibility makes her a strong choice, adapting to the map’s dynamic situations.

Killjoy and Sage are recommended as sentinels on Split. Killjoy’s utility can be strategically placed in various locations to utilize the map’s verticality. Sage’s wall in mid can greatly control the flow of the game.

Jett and Raze are the top duelists for attacking on Split. Jett’s mobility helps with escaping sticky situations, while Raze’s explosive abilities work well in tight corners. Sova is not recommended as his darts are less effective in Split’s vertical environment.

Knowing the best places to plant the Spike on Split is crucial. You want to plant it in a protected area where the enemy has to put themselves in danger to reach it. Make sure a teammate can cover the bomb from afar.

After planting the Spike, position your team to cover different angles and set up crossfires for protection. It’s important to check all corners and have each other’s backs.

How you approach mid, a crucial area on Split, determines your strategy. Directly attacking the sites or controlling mid for access to heaven requires different tactics.

For B Main attacks, use smoke on Heaven to remove the defenders’ advantage and delay the smoke for the entrance to defender spawn until after planting. Use utility to safely cross the gap between B Main and the site.

For A site pushes, reverse the order of smoke placement and have a teammate hold A Heaven as defenders can easily flank back to A main entrance.

Gaining control of mid allows attackers to push into heaven areas, denying defenders the high ground advantage. Be ready for early fights and maintain at least one player in heaven.

Use utility strategically in different areas to gain an advantage. Pay attention to corners and always check them to avoid surprises.
