DRX Secures First VCT League Spot in Masters Tokyo

Korea’s DRX Secures First Spot at Masters Tokyo with Victory Over Team Secret

VCT playoffs are underway, and Korea’s DRX has become the first team to secure their spot at Masters Tokyo. They defeated Team Secret with a 2-1 victory in a highly anticipated matchup.

DRX has been dominating this season in the VCT Pacific League, exceeding expectations as the speculated best team in the league. Their undefeated streak was broken by Team Secret last week during the superweek, setting the stage for an intense rematch in the playoffs.

The first map of the day was Haven, a map that Secret has been performing well on and previously beat DRX. Secret’s leader, JessieVash, has been a standout player for the team and showcased his skills once again in this match.

Unlike their previous match, DRX’s coach decided to use both allotted timeouts to coach his team and secure the win. This strategic decision proved successful as DRX bounced back after losing the first map and dominated on Split and Bind.

BuZz had an exceptional performance on Split, while DRX outsmarted Secret on Bind. Secret also made a risky move by substituting invy, one of their best players, with lenne, who hadn’t played a match in the VCT Pacific League before.

In the end, DRX emerged victorious with a 2-1 score and advanced to the upper bracket, securing their spot at Masters Tokyo. Team Secret will now face Gen.G in the lower bracket.

While some teams seem likely to secure a spot at Masters based on their regional performance, every team must go through their respective playoff brackets to secure their spot.
