DRX Defeats PRX in VCT Pacific League Week 4 Match
Week 4 of the VCT Pacific League kicked off in Seoul with a highly anticipated match between two top VALORANT teams. DRX, the leading team from Korea, faced off against Singapore’s Paper Rex. Despite predictions, DRX emerged victorious with a 2-0 win, maintaining their perfect record.
PRX continues to struggle this year, even after making significant roster changes to boost their performance. Despite the efforts of their star player, something, the team fell short and couldn’t meet expectations.
DRX chose Ascent as the first map, where they have historically excelled. PRX had difficulties on defense, despite holding an advantage on the map. They seemed to struggle with a more controlled playstyle, which deviated from their usual strategies.
They also struggled on offense, with something not performing up to par, unlike rookie Foxy9 who dominated the game. Once BuZz caught something off-guard, PRX looked ahead to the Split map.
Although DRX secured a 13-5 win on Ascent, PRX showcased the skill of f0rsakeN, who proved that he can make an impact in a different role. With the addition of something to the roster, one of PRX’s duelist players had to transition to a new role. F0rsakeN demonstrated his consistency by leading his team’s scoresheet while playing Killjoy on Ascent.
DRX claimed the victory on the first map, and banter ensued.
PRX chose Split as the second map, knowing it would present a challenge for DRX. In a previous match, India’s Global Esports pushed DRX to double overtime on this map.
PRX made changes to their roster once again, replacing their in-game leader Benkai with Jinggg and having d4v41 take on the shot-calling role. Despite their rough start on Ascent, something remained on stage for the second map.
In contrast, Foxy9 continued to impress in VCT Pacific, living up to the hype as DRX’s secret weapon. He showcased incredible mechanics, reaction times, and mental fortitude, quickly bouncing back from any mistakes.
PRX put up a strong fight in the second half of Split, thanks to the improved performance of f0rsakeN and something finding their rhythm. D4v41 also grew more comfortable as the in-game leader with each substitution of Benkai.
However, DRX emerged as the clear superior team in the VCT Pacific League, securing a 13-10 victory on Split and maintaining their perfect record.
DRX is now the only team across all three VCT leagues with a flawless map differential. Despite some close calls, they have not dropped a single map since LOCK//IN.
In the next week, DRX will face Gen.G, the only other undefeated team in the VCT Pacific League. Gen.G has already shown incredible performance in 2023, making them a strong contender for the second spot in the Pacific region.
The DRX vs. Gen.G match is scheduled for Apr. 22 at 7 AM CT.
