DRX bounce back from nightmarish Masters Tokyo to secure inaugural VCT Champions playoffs spot

DRX Makes Historic Comeback at VALORANT Champions

DRX has emerged victorious at the VALORANT Champions group stage in Los Angeles, becoming the first team to advance. This triumph comes after a disappointing finish at Masters Tokyo, where they were eliminated in seventh-eighth place. However, the team has rebounded and is now poised to reclaim their spot among the best in Asia.

Impressive Performances Propel DRX to Victory

DRX faced tough competition from top teams in the Americas and EMEA region in their VALORANT matches in L.A. Despite doubts surrounding their condition, DRX secured 2-1 victories against LOUD and NAVI, securing their spot in the group stage.

DRX has a reputation for dominating the group stage, and this time they have flawlessly navigated through this year’s challenging “Group of Death.” With eight days to prepare for their next matchup, DRX will have an advantage over other teams still battling it out in the groups.

Stax Shines as DRX’s In-Game Leader

Kim “stax” Gu-taek, DRX’s in-game leader, has been instrumental in their recent victories. Despite his young age, stax’s experience in the pro VALORANT scene has proven invaluable. The team’s improved communication strategies have empowered stax to thrive individually while enhancing their overall teamwork.

According to DRX’s controller player Kim “MaKo” Myeong-gwan, the team has been communicating more effectively during matches, actively contributing to their success.

Coach Pyeon “termi” Seon-ho emphasized that stax remains the team’s in-game leader, with other players offering helpful details and comms for the team’s benefit.

This change has allowed DRX’s players to showcase their individual skills, such as stax’s impressive performance as Skye against NAVI and his high headshot percentage. The improved communication has not significantly affected stax’s stress levels.

DRX Displays Versatility and Growth

DRX’s flexibility and practice have paid off, with players like Goo “Rb” Sang-min choosing unexpected agents like Yoru. Additionally, DRX achieved impressive scores on Lotus, a map they used to avoid. Their progress is evident, and they aim to continue their success in the upcoming stages of Champions.
