Dislike Lotus? VALORANT pro advises dependence on this essential ability

How to Maximize Flash Usage on Valorant’s Newest Map, Lotus

Fans of VALORANT are notoriously tough to please when it comes to new maps being added to the popular FPS game. However, it seems that every map eventually finds its place in the competitive cycle. The newest addition, Lotus, has even been played at the VCT LOCK//IN tournament.

Optimizing Lotus’ Geography and Architecture

As players become more familiar with Lotus, they are discovering the best strategies and agent compositions for success on this convoluted map. Coach Woohoojin, in a recent stream, shared his insights on how to make the most of Lotus’ features, particularly by utilizing flashes.

Flashes: The Key to Success

Woohoojin emphasized the importance of the red areas of the map for defensive play. These areas, referred to as “flash zones,” can blind every player within them when a flash is popped. The flashing player must stand in the yellow box to throw the flash into the red area. Each agent has a unique flash mechanic, so not all trajectory lines work for every agent.

Agents with Strong Flash Abilities

Woohoojin demonstrated the effectiveness of Skye, Yoru, and Phoenix on Lotus. Skye’s well-timed and guided flashes provide valuable information and can be used for peeking. Yoru’s flash bounces off walls, allowing for unorthodox flash pathways. Phoenix’s flashes are difficult to dodge due to their short delay, which can stop enemies in their tracks.

Other agents with powerful flashes, such as Breach and KAY/O, can also be effective on Lotus. However, their flash abilities may require more precise control and timing.

Agents like Omen and Reyna, whose blinds are not as strong, are considered less effective on this map.

Conclusion

If you want to excel on Lotus, make sure to make good use of the flash zones, but be cautious not to blind your teammates in the process. With the right agent and strategic flash usage, you can gain a significant advantage on this map.
