Riot Games Targets Raze and Sage in VALORANT Patch

Riot Games has set its sights on Raze and Sage in their latest patch for VALORANT. These two agents have received significant attention and criticism from the community during the game’s closed beta. Many players felt that Raze’s damage output was too high while Sage’s Slow Orb ability was too powerful.

To address these concerns, the patch focuses on finding a balance for both agents. It also includes changes to melee damage, quality of life improvements, and bug fixes. If you want to see the full list of changes, you can check out the official VALORANT version 0.47 patch notes.

Gameplay and Balance Adjustments

Melee Damage:

– Melee attacks now deal double the damage to destructible objects such as Sage’s Barrier and Haven’s metal double doors. This change aims to provide players with more options during low economy rounds, allowing them to interact with Sage’s wall more effectively.

Raze:

– Paint Shells have been reduced from two to one, and it now requires Raze to get two kills to reset its cooldown. Additionally, the audio for Paint Shells, Blast Pack, and Showstopper has been tuned and adjusted to improve their audibility in chaotic situations. An issue where the secondary cluster of Paint Shells would explode too quickly has also been fixed.

Sage:

– The Slow Orb now slows down players’ movement in the air. Players can now move through the Slow Orb silently without making noise. These changes aim to prevent players from easily bypassing the Slow Orb by bunny hopping and add more versatility to Sage’s abilities. Fixed various exploits on Bind, Haven, and Split, and moved the Orb on Split from B Mid to B Main to balance the map.

Quality of Life Improvements:

– Reduced outbound network traffic for players running at high frames-per-second. This change addresses issues where some players’ network setups were causing spikes in network latency, which can impact gameplay.

Bug Fixes:

– Fixed a rare server crash caused by corrupted packets from some players’ networks.
– Cypher’s Spycam can no longer use weapons.
– Fixed a bug where footstep audible range would sometimes not appear on the minimap.

These updates should help improve the overall balance and gameplay experience in VALORANT. Riot Games continues to listen to the feedback from the community and makes necessary adjustments to ensure a fair and enjoyable playing environment.
