Derke and Fnatic dominate KRÜ in the first series of VCT Masters Reykjavík.

Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev Leads Fnatic to Victory in VCT Masters Reykjavík Opening Series

Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev took charge and dominated LATAM representatives KRÜ Esports as Fnatic emerged victorious in the opening series of VCT Masters Reykjavík today.

KRÜ Esports put up a strong fight but were ultimately outclassed by the well-balanced aggression and patience of Fnatic on Haven (13-5) and Icebox (13-4).

Fnatic, the European No. 2 seed, remained unfazed by KRÜ Esports in the best-of-three VALORANT series. Eighteen-year-old Derke displayed remarkable confidence, leading the charge as Jett with the Vandal. His skillful gameplay frequently gave Fnatic the advantage, engaging in duels head-on and swiftly retreating to safety.

When Fnatic secured the crucial opening kill, they strategically played defensively and capitalized on KRÜ’s mistakes. Jake “Boaster” Howlett’s utility as Astra on Haven and Martin “Magnum” Peňkov’s fragging power as Killjoy on Icebox made it challenging for the Argentine underdogs to overcome.

With today’s win, Fnatic has secured their spot in the next round of the tournament. They will face off against the North American favorites, Sentinels, on Tuesday, May 25 at 3pm CT. KRÜ Esports will go head-to-head with the loser of NUTURN and Sharks Esports in the lower bracket on Wednesday, May 26.
