Confirmed: Provisional Dates and Format for VCT Game Changers EMEA 2023 Revealed

The 2023 VCT Game Changers in EMEA: What You Need to Know

The first event of the 2023 VCT Game Changers in EMEA is set to begin in April, with the final taking place in May. Riot Games will announce the official schedule soon, but fans of VALORANT can expect exciting changes and new players in the game.

A New Format for the Game Changers Series

Last year, Riot Games revealed their plans for the 2023 Game Changers series, aiming to create a path to the World Championship for all players. Starting this year, VALORANT players can progress through the Academy and Emergents competitions to reach the top. Riot designed this new circuit as the ideal way for players to go pro, providing them with opportunities to enter the larger VCT ecosystem.

The Main Event and Group Stage

The VCT Game Changers main event will include an open qualifier in April, followed by the group stage. Only 16 teams, including the top four from the previous year, will advance to this stage. The specific teams that will automatically reach the group stage have not been announced, but fans might expect to see G2 Gozen among them.

In the group stage, the teams will be divided into two groups and compete in a best-of-three single round-robin format. The top six teams will then move on to a double-elimination bracket to determine the top three teams for the playoffs. The bottom team from each group will be relegated to the Contenders Series Two competition later in the year.

The Playoffs Stage

The six teams that reach the playoffs stage will face off in a double-elimination bracket. All matches, except for the lower-bracket and upper-bracket finals, will be best-of-three. The finals will be best-of-five.

After the first VCT GC EMEA event crowns its winner, the first Contenders series will follow. Teams from all over Europe can participate in the open qualifiers, but only two will advance to the second event of VCT Game Changers EMEA.

Expanding Opportunities for Marginalized Genders

While details about regional events, the broadcast, and the invited teams from last year are yet to be announced, the 2023 season promises to further expand Riot’s circuit dedicated to marginalized genders.
