VALORANT Community Disappointed with Lack of Replay System

Riot Games’ recent Ask VALORANT blog post, released on May 19, left fans of the game disappointed.

Ask VALORANT is a blog where the creators share insights about the game’s future. The latest update discussed gifting skins, AFK penalties, and the highly anticipated replay system. However, Steven Eldredge from game production stated that there are no plans for a player-facing version of a replay system at the moment.

This response did not sit well with the community, leading to two trending Reddit posts. One post declared that the user would no longer spend money on the game, while the other expressed worry after reading the Ask VALORANT update.

The first post specifically addressed the absence of a replay system, even though previous discussions had suggested its inclusion. In 2020, a previous Ask VALORANT blog post mentioned the developers’ interest in exploring a replay system soon.

The second post focused on the lack of gameplay updates and the excessive release of weapon skins and battle pass items instead.

In contrast, Riot’s other popular title, League of Legends, has a replay system that was implemented after a few years. It allows players to review their positioning and gameplay to enhance their performance. However, two years after the initial discussion of a replay system in Ask VALORANT, the developers seem to have taken a step back, causing dissatisfaction within the community.

One user on Reddit expressed their disappointment, saying, “I’ve spent a lot of money on this game. Always defending it against critics and hoping it would become the biggest esport in the future. But after reading that dev post, everything changed. I’m heartbroken.”
