Cloud9 VALORANT officially splits with Yay after 5 months

Cloud9 and Top VALORANT Player Part Ways

Cloud9, a North American organization, has mutually agreed to part ways with one of the world’s best VALORANT players, according to multiple sources. The player, known as yay, had his contract terminated through a signed release. It’s important to note that this decision was not based on performance-related issues. Moving forward, yay will no longer be a part of Cloud9.

Cloud9 is expected to hold trials in the coming week to complete their roster. As of now, there are no other planned changes to the team. Former OpTic Gaming star Marved is rumored to be one of the players expected to trial, according to multiple sources.

Marved, who was released from OpTic, is one of the few players without a buyout. However, he has not played professional VALORANT since last year.

Yay, despite parting ways with Cloud9, remains one of the game’s top players. He will be actively searching for another team before the start of the Americas league.

This roster change by Cloud9 comes prior to the conclusion of the first international event of the year, the VCT LOCK//IN tournament. Cloud9 was eliminated in the second round of the tournament, losing to DRX on Feb. 18.

The decision to make changes within the roster was discussed following Cloud9’s elimination from LOCK//IN and was reported by journalist Max Katz and on Feb. 23.

Cloud9 is scheduled to compete in the Americas region international league, which will begin on March 26 and conclude on May 28.
