Cloud9 seeks new in-game leader for VALORANT ahead of VCT Americas league

Cloud9 to Replace In-Game Leader Vanity on VALORANT Roster

North American esports organization Cloud9 is making a change to its VALORANT roster. According to a report by journalist Max Katz and confirmed by sources close to , Cloud9 is expected to replace their in-game leader, Vanity. This decision comes just days after the organization released their superstar player, yay. Despite Vanity’s teammates expressing their desire for him to stay, Cloud9 is following through with this move.

The organization has already been practicing with Runi, a former in-game leader for Soniqs as reported on March 4. Cloud9 has been trying out players from the semi-professional level over the past few days to find a replacement for yay. They have a few weeks left to finalize their roster before the start of the Americas international league on April 1.

Cloud9 is known for being reluctant to pay large buyouts for players signed to other organizations. Likewise, many teams are not willing to sell their players during the Challengers season.

Vanity has been a long-standing member of Cloud9, joining the team after his time with Version1 in August 2021. Since Vanity took over as the in-game leader, Cloud9 has remained one of the top teams in North America.

In the VCT LOCK//IN tournament, Cloud9 was eliminated by DRX, who eventually finished in the top four. However, they did manage to defeat Paper Rex in their opening matchup.

Overall, Cloud9’s decision to replace Vanity marks another change in their VALORANT roster. It will be interesting to see how the team adjusts and performs with their new lineup.
