Chamber is not ‘in trouble’ like other top VALORANT teams, according to 100T

VALORANT Patch 5.12: Major Changes to Agents and Chamber Nerfs

The latest VALORANT patch, 5.12, has introduced significant updates to the game. These changes include modifications to 15 different agents, improvements to utility destruction through abilities, and the highly anticipated nerfs to Chamber.

In the upcoming VCT season, almost every top VALORANT team will have to adapt to the Chamber changes. Many of the game’s prominent and impactful stars have risen to prominence due to the overpowered sentinel agent. However, 100T, who finished the 2022 VCT season strongly and acquired Matthew “Cryocells” Panganiban from XSET, is not as worried about these changes as other teams.

According to Cryocells, “I think [the nerfs] definitely pushed Chamber out of the meta for most teams. I believe Cypher/Killjoy will be more utilized as the main sentinel.”

While Cryocells acknowledges that teams may still use Chamber, he anticipates that they will face challenges in doing so. He believes the addition of a range restriction to Chamber’s Trademark trip is the most significant change.

100T is already scaling back its reliance on Chamber, despite Cryocells gaining international prominence for his Chamber play during Masters Copenhagen and Champions 2022. Head coach Michael “Mikes” Hockom believes other teams will have a harder time making this adjustment.

Mikes says, “I think some teams are in more trouble because they’ve built their lineups around having a sole Chamber player. The rest of their roles get messed up after that, whether they lack a player who knows how to play Cypher and Killjoy at the top level or lack versatile players based on team composition.”

However, Mikes is confident in Cryocells’ agent pool and believes they will be fine over time. He also mentions that Cryocells has been working on expanding his agent pool even before the Chamber nerfs. The team is still experimenting to find the best fit for their lineup.

While having a strong player on a powerful agent is important, Mikes highlights the versatility of the team. He mentions that stellar is excited to play more Killjoy and Cypher on different maps. He also praises bang’s playmaking abilities and talent.

100T’s new roster will make its debut at the Red Bull Home Ground event, facing Team Heretics in the first round. Their matches against Liquid and FUT Esports will follow later in the day.
