Can You Play VALORANT on Xbox or PlayStation?

Gamers using consoles have been eagerly anticipating the release of VALORANT since it came out in 2020. Don’t worry, controller users, because some of you may have access to the game—just not in the way you expected. While Riot Games has brought multiple games to consoles, VALORANT has not made the leap yet.

Other first-person shooter games like CS:GO have attempted to make the transition to consoles with little success. However, it’s not entirely impossible for VALORANT. Unfortunately, there is no official date for the game’s console release, so you’ll have to be patient. But hopefully, we’ll be able to use our analog sticks to take down Jett mains soon enough.

Currently, VALORANT is available on the Game Pass, but only for PC gaming. Since both PCs and Xbox are under Microsoft’s domain, the FPS game is still part of the game pass.

During last year’s Xbox showcase, it was announced that the Xbox Game Pass would partner with Riot to unlock special perks for players. This includes unlocking different card packs in Legends of Runeterra, unlocking every champion in League of Legends, and unlocking every agent in VALORANT.

In addition to Riot Games’ partnership with Microsoft and Xbox, a VALORANT leaker on Twitter revealed that Riot added new icons to the game for both PlayStation and Xbox. These icons were found in the game files after the release of Patch 5.03. While Riot has not made any official statements about bringing VALORANT to consoles, there have been multiple leaks suggesting that it could be happening in the near future.

Since 2020, VALORANT has been compared to FPS titles like Counter-Strike and Overwatch because of its combination of gunplay and abilities. While Counter-Strike is also exclusively on PC, Overwatch has been available on multiple platforms. Overwatch’s success as an FPS game with abilities on platforms like Xbox gives hope that VALORANT could achieve similar success on consoles.

VALORANT will definitely be coming to consoles, but we have to wait for the official announcement. For now, all we can do is speculate and hope for its arrival. There is currently no indication that VALORANT will be available for console players in 2023. We will keep you updated if any new information is revealed.

In the meantime, Riot Games has listed job openings for Game Design Manager and Senior Game Designers specifically for consoles. They are looking for someone who will “help bring console game products to market.” This indicates that Riot Games is actively working on a console build, and we might see a release as early as 2024.
