‘Beating shroud in NA VCT LCQ fueled Trent from The Guard with confidence’

Playing Against Shroud Boosted Confidence for The Guard’s Trent Cairns

Facing off against one of the greatest first-person shooter players of all time, known as the GOAT, can be mentally challenging. However, for The Guard’s Trent Cairns, it also had a positive effect on his confidence.

Trent shared in an interview with Sportskeeda that playing against shroud in the opening match of the NA VCT Last Chance Qualifier greatly boosted his confidence. “Playing against shroud and performing well against such a renowned FPS player in the game boosted my confidence tremendously,” Trent expressed.

During the match, Trent achieved an impressive performance, recording 22 kills and only three deaths against shroud on Aug. 4. He found it unbelievable to have such a high ratio against such a skilled player. Trent said, “I never thought I would hear that… I’ve been extremely confident ever since, and it’s an incredible feeling.”

Throughout the best-of-three series, Trent stood out as the top player on the server, boasting a 75/53/29 KDA ratio, 266 Average Combat Score, and 170 Average Damage per round, according to VALORANT stat site, VLR.GG. In contrast, shroud underperformed with 157 ACS and 100 ADR.

Following their series against Sentinels, The Guard emerged victorious against Cloud9 and secured a spot in the upper bracket semifinals of the NA VCT LCQ. They will be facing FaZe Clan tomorrow for a chance to reach the grand final.

Sentinels, on the other hand, continue to compete in the tournament after eliminating Shopify Rebellion. They are set to face 100 Thieves in the lower bracket quarterfinals today at 3 pm CT.
