Bang’s incredible performance saves 100 Thieves in the most amazing play of the 2023 VCT Americas season

VALORANT: 100 Thieves’ Bang secures series win with incredible final play

In a thrilling VALORANT showdown between 100 Thieves and Leviatán, player Sean “bang” Bezerra stole the spotlight with a game-winning play. The crowd at the VCT Americas studio in Los Angeles erupted in cheers as bang secured the victory.

The first two maps of the series were incredibly close, with 100 Thieves losing 15-13 on Icebox and winning 13-11 on Haven. The fate of the entire series rested on Leviatán winning the final map of Lotus in overtime. In round 24, 100 Thieves held a slim 12-11 lead, but Leviatán quickly gained the upper hand, picking off crucial players as the Thieves attempted to take control of Lotus’ B site. Despite a Viper’s Pit from Brenden “stellar” McGrath, Leviatán managed to eliminate key threats.

The final moments of the match came down to bang facing a one-vs-three situation with limited time on the clock. He had to either retrieve the spike, plant it, and eliminate all three opponents, or eliminate all three before time ran out. Bang emerged victorious from the initial one-vs-one encounter, leaving one opponent hidden near the door and another waiting near the enemy spawn.

Bang quickly pushed forward, faking a spike plant before rushing to the right and winning another one-vs-one battle against Vicente “Tacolilla” Compagnon and his Jett ultimate ability. However, as he returned to the site, bang realized there wasn’t enough time to plant the spike without Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena closing in and taking him out. Thinking on his feet, bang pulled out his Shorty shotgun and jumped to Heaven, baiting kiNgg into exposing himself and swiftly eliminating him with a two-shot burst. And just like that, the one-vs-three was complete, securing the 13-11 map victory and the series win for 100 Thieves.

The enthusiastic live crowd, who had been fervently supporting 100 Thieves throughout the match, erupted with thunderous cheers. This incredible play is undoubtedly the highlight of the region’s VALORANT scene so far this year and greatly contributes to 100 Thieves’ playoff aspirations, boosting their record to 3-2. In a true Hollywood fashion, bang’s parents joined him on the stage for a post-match victory photo, celebrating a momentous win for both the team and their son.

100 Thieves’ next formidable opponent is NRG Esports on April 29.
