Babybay delivers stunning performance to secure comeback victory in 100 Thieves vs. FaZe rivalry’s latest clash

FaZe Clan Defeats 100 Thieves in VALORANT LCQ Upper Bracket

The FaZe Clan VALORANT team secured a series win against their rivals 100 Thieves in the upper bracket of the NA Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ). They managed to rally back from a potential collapse, thanks to an outstanding performance from babybay on map three.

With this victory, FaZe is now just one step away from qualifying for VCT Champions 2022.

A Close Match on Haven

Both teams opted for mirror compositions on Haven, relying on Fade/Raze combos on attack and Sage/Chamber on defense, with Omen providing control. While 100 Thieves won the pistol round, FaZe’s aggressive second-round force helped them take control. FaZe consistently attacked the B site and won most of the duels, resulting in an 8-4 lead at halftime.

FaZe maintained their momentum in the second half, winning the pistol round and the following anti-eco round on defense. They successfully smothered the 100 Thieves’ attack, with Supamen anchoring the site defense and securing a 4K on the C site. FaZe dominated with a 13-6 victory on 100 Thieves’ pick.

Babybay’s Heroics on Breeze

On Breeze, 100 Thieves had a strong start on their defensive side, winning the first five rounds. FaZe’s first round on attack came from babybay’s clutch play with Jett knives and Sheriffs. Babybay’s individual plays helped FaZe secure attack rounds, but 100 Thieves closed out the first half with a lead of 8-4.

Despite a few clutch plays from Derrek increasing 100 Thieves’ lead to 10-4, FaZe managed to bring it back with some strategic timeouts and impressive performances from flyuh. They reduced the 100 Thieves’ lead to just four rounds. However, 100 Thieves secured the win with a score of 13-8, forcing a decider on Ascent.

FaZe’s Comeback on Ascent

100 Thieves dominated the first half on Ascent, thanks to Asuna’s outstanding performance on KAY/O. They held a 9-3 lead. However, FaZe bounced back on their defense, with babybay, dicey, supamen, and POISED stepping up individually. They suffocated the 100 Thieves’ attack, tying the score at 9-9 before taking the lead themselves.

Babybay continued to deliver multi-kills for FaZe, securing a flawless defensive half and a 13-9 victory on Ascent, leading them to a 2-1 series win.

Resurgence for FaZe and 100 Thieves

This win was particularly significant as FaZe overcame the “9-3 curse” that had plagued them in a previous Stage Two playoff series. Both FaZe and 100 Thieves have shown improved performances after lackluster showings during Stage One.

In the next round, FaZe will face The Guard in the upper bracket final, while 100 Thieves will compete against Sentinels in the lower bracket.
