APAC VALORANT Teams Seek International Talent as Talon Allegedly Adds 3 Overseas Players

Talon Esports Looks to Improve Roster with International Talent

In the world of esports, it is common for North American teams to bring in experienced APAC players who are seeking a lucrative contract and less competition. However, in VALORANT, the tables have turned, and it seems that APAC teams are now the ones importing talent.

A recent report by Tanmay reveals that Talon Esports is considering signing Lionel “lenne” Lim, Peter “Governor” No, and Joseph “ban” Seungmin Oh. By adding two Americans and one Singaporean player to their roster, Talon would truly become an international team after parting ways with three Thai players in September.

Unfortunately, Talon’s performance in the 2023 VCT Pacific League was lackluster. They finished second-to-last, only outperforming the winless DetonatioN FocusMe. Their journey ended in the Last Chance Qualifier with a 2-1 loss to Gen.G, their sole victory coming against DFM.

Their underwhelming performance is even more disappointing considering their strong showing in the LOCK//IN tournament. Talon defeated MiBR and the eventual world champions Evil Geniuses before narrowly losing 2-1 to the second-place team in the Pacific region, DRX.

In the extensive VALORANT offseason, teams have ample time to practice and strategically build their desired rosters, rather than making hasty changes based on limited information. Although the long offseason may hinder organizations hoping to capitalize on match hype, it presents an intriguing opportunity for roster development.

It appears that Talon’s new coach, Aaron “b0i” Thao, aims to create a team of underrated and overlooked players. Governor, ban, and lenne all possess the potential to exceed expectations, and the hope is that they will perform cohesively in 2024. Time will tell whether Talon’s endeavor will be a success or if they will struggle to reinvent themselves.
