All upcoming changes to VALORANT in patch 5.12

The VALORANT community has already reacted to the significant changes being made to Chamber on the PBE. These changes are in response to the agent’s dominance in both casual and professional play since his release.

Aside from Chamber, almost every other agent in the game is also receiving minor changes in Patch 5.12 that could potentially shake up the meta.

This patch includes buffs to several pieces of utility while also increasing the number of abilities that can destroy them.

Here is a breakdown of all the changes coming to VALORANT in Patch 5.12.

General Changes:

– Riot is adjusting Assist Tail Tuning, which refers to the time after the expiration of a debuff where the player who applied it can still receive an assist on a kill. All assist tails in the game have been increased, resulting in more assists for controller, initiator, and sentinel players.

– Several existing abilities can now destroy other pieces of utility, creating a more consistent landscape of utility destruction.

– The Spectre now has three damage tiers to address different falloff distances.

– Riot has adjusted the damage multipliers on many pieces of utility to account for health, cost, and impact changes.

Duelists:

Phoenix:

– Blaze ability cost decreased from 200 to 150 and can damage and destroy enemy utility.

– Hot Hands ability can now damage and destroy enemy utility.

– NULL/cmd ultimate points increased from 7 to 8.

– FRAG/MENT ability will now play a voiceline telling allies how many enemies have been suppressed.

Sentinels:

Chamber:

– Headhunter stability curve updated.

– Rendezvous ability reworked into a single anchor with an increased radius, increased weapon equip time after teleporting, teleporter health decreased, and the teleport anchor no longer respawns during the round if destroyed.

– Trademark ability trap is now range-restricted, health increased from 1 to 20, and slow duration decreased from 6 to 4 seconds.

Sage:

– Barrier Orb fortification delay increased from 3 to 3.3 seconds.

– Healing Orb self heal total amount decreased from 60 health points to 30 health points and ally heal total amount increased from 60 health points to 100 health points.

These changes to Sage may result in an overall nerf but will increase her role as a Sentinel in aiding her teammates.

Her wall will now take slightly longer to fortify itself, and she can heal allies for more while only healing herself for a smaller amount.

These changes aim to balance and improve the gameplay experience in VALORANT, giving players more strategic options and creating a more consistent meta.
