Abnormal Behavior of VALORANT Decay Abilities Noticed in Early Hours of Episode 7

‘Decay’ Effect Bug Makes Abilities Overpowered in VALORANT

A bug in the June 27 patch of VALORANT has made abilities with a ‘decay’ status effect the most overpowered moves in the game. This bug allows the effect to continue working on opponents even after they have escaped the ability radius.

The decay status effect is meant to impact opponents only while they are inside the ability radius. However, after the arrival of Episode Seven, the abilities used by Viper and Fade have been leaving a lasting mark on opponents, sometimes not ending at all. This issue has sparked discussions and strange eliminations have been reported on Reddit.

The community is questioning why this bug occurred, but Riot developers have yet to address the issue.

The decay effect in VALORANT occurs when a player runs through a Viper Wall, Orb, or Ultimate, or when Fade activates their ability or ultimate. These abilities cause the opponent agent’s health to decrease significantly, leaving them vulnerable to incoming bullets for the duration of the status effects.

With this glitch, it is highly likely that we will see an increase in Viper and Fade players in matches, as it gives them a significant power boost.

This is not the first error to occur after the June 27 patch. Since the arrival of Episode Seven, VALORANT has experienced several glitches, including the game being taken down for maintenance and disappearing agent voice lines and game announcer.

Considering the number of game-breaking glitches, it is expected that Riot’s bug-squashing team will address these issues soon. Players should be vigilant for any other errors or issues in their VALORANT matches, as more bugs may arise in the future.

Riot did not respond to Dot’s request for more details before publication.
