A comprehensive guide to mastering Jett in VALORANT: Ultimate, abilities, and tips

Jett: The Fast and Lethal VALORANT Agent

If you love speed, precision, and lethal plays in VALORANT, then Jett is the perfect agent for you. She brings mobility and speed to any team and can execute incredible mechanical outplays. However, mastering her abilities is crucial for success.

Jett is excellent on the attack, effortlessly taking bomb sites and catching defenders off guard from unexpected angles while using her smokes for cover. On defense, she can hold aggressive or vertical angles and quickly retreat to safety after securing opening kills. Nonetheless, it’s essential not to get too aggressive with Jett, as it can lead to an early death and disgruntled teammates.

Here’s a guide to playing Jett effectively:

All Jett Abilities

  • Cloudburst: Throw a cloud of fog that obscures vision. Hold the ability button to change its trajectory in-flight.
  • Updraft: Propel yourself upwards after a brief wind-up.
  • Tailwind (Signature Ability): Dash a short distance in the direction of movement after a small warm-up.
  • Blade Storm (Ultimate Ability): Arm yourself with deadly throwing knives that deal moderate damage, killing on headshots. Scoring a kill restores all daggers. Left-click throws a single dagger, while right-click throws all remaining daggers in a short-ranged burst. However, using the right click does not replenish your daggers, so use it sparingly.

Jett appears to be a skill-intensive agent at first glance. While she excels in fast-paced gunfights, she also offers utility beyond flying around opponents and clicking heads. For mechanically gifted players, Jett is one of the game’s most viable agents.

Jett’s Cloudburst provides valuable utility for both attack and defense. It offers cover for teammates as they rush onto a site or deters enemy pushes into her guarded areas. One effective play with Jett is to throw Cloudburst onto a site, dash into the smoke, and while defenders scramble to find her, her teammates can take advantage of their distraction and eliminate them.

By utilizing Tailwind and Updraft, Jett can dash around the map, surprising opponents with unexpected angles. She can strategically position herself on boxes or ledges before the round begins to secure important kills. Tailwind can also serve as a quick escape tool after securing an opening kill, making Jett an ideal agent for skilled Operator users. However, a recent patch introduced a timed window for activating Tailwind, requiring players to plan its usage instead of relying on it spontaneously.

Combining her mobility and smoke abilities with her ultimate, Jett can secure multiple kills. However, accuracy with Blade Storm is crucial. Her ultimate can instantly kill enemies with a headshot, even while airborne, or eliminate close-range enemies with a right-click burst. Keep in mind that Blade Storm knives only refresh on left-click kills. If you use a right-click burst, you won’t regain your daggers, even if it results in a kill.

The only aspect you need to control while playing Jett is your level of aggression. Jett lacks crowd control abilities, which means a well-coordinated enemy team can easily defeat you without proper backup. It’s tempting to throw smoke, jump in, and attempt a hero play, but remember that Jett is not invincible.
