2024 VCT Challengers Emphasize Promising Future for Competitive VALORANT

The Upgraded VCT Challengers 2024 Season

The VCT Challengers 2024 season is set to be a significant improvement from previous seasons. Riot Games has planned various enhancements to provide VALORANT athletes with the best possible experience, including new policies, Premier integration, and more.

Kicking off in January 2024, 23 regional leagues worldwide will host a series of tournament phases, including qualifiers and playoffs. These will lead to an Ascension tournament in three territories: Asia-Pacific, EMEA, and Americas. But there’s even more exciting news for aspiring talent looking to experience VCT’s highly competitive environment.

Riot is finally delivering on its promise of offering a “Path to Pro,” bridging the gap between VALORANT’s non-professional player base and the VCT circuit.

Starting next season, Premier, the in-game tournament mode introduced in VALORANT’s Episode Seven, will work alongside Challengers to give deserving Premier teams an opportunity to showcase their skills in official circuits.

“Next year, we will introduce the first Promotion and Relegation event between CL and Premier teams at the end of Stage 1,” Riot said in a release. The event will feature Premier teams competing for a chance to secure a slot in stage two of VCT Challengers 2024 and play against Challengers teams. More details will be announced next month.

Riot has also announced the implementation of three new policies with VCT Challengers 2024 to support the development of the Tier Two scene. These policies include affiliate partnerships, two-way players, and player loans.

Affiliate partnerships will enable International VCT Leagues (the Americas, EMEA, and Pacific) to collaborate with Challengers and Game Changers teams, promoting cooperation and growth. Additionally, two-way player contracts and player loans will be made possible.

All of these changes aim to create an integrated ecosystem between the professional and semi-professional levels of play. Fans will have the opportunity to follow both scenes more closely, while aspiring Tier Two VALORANT talents will have the chance to showcase their abilities and potentially move up to higher leagues.

Last but not least, in an effort to reduce gaps in the calendar, the 2025 VCT Challengers season will start in October 2024, immediately after the conclusion of the 2024 Ascension tournaments in September.
