100T VALORANT coach Mikes acknowledges team’s struggle in effectively setting up Cryocells for success

The Struggles of 100 Thieves in VCT Americas Super Week

After securing two significant wins during the VCT Americas Super Week, 100 Thieves faced a setback against NRG and suffered a comprehensive 2-0 defeat. In the match, they even lost their own map pick of Fracture by a score of 13-3.

Challenges for Cryocells in 100 Thieves

Statistically speaking, Matthew “Cryocells” Panganiban, the all-star player acquired by 100T during the offseason, has had a tough split. Since joining 100T from XSET and the nerf to one of his main agents, Chamber, his performance has taken a hit. However, according to 100T head coach Michael “Mikes” Hockom, Cryocells isn’t receiving the necessary support to thrive.

The Importance of Setting Up Duelists Properly

According to Mikes, the performance of their team is not solely reliant on one star player dropping 30 kills every game. They make a concerted effort to ensure that everyone has opportunities to succeed. However, if the duelist players are not properly set up, the whole team suffers. Mikes believes that when Cryocells is given the chance, he can be one of the world’s best players.

Cryocells’ Opening Duel Success Rate and Team Cohesion

The opening duel success rate has a direct impact on overall success, and it has been a point of frustration for Mikes and 100T. Cryocells currently has a 47 percent opening duel success rate, according to THESPIKE.gg. This means he is losing more opening duels than winning them. The lack of team cohesion was evident in their loss against NRG, where 100T relied heavily on individual playmaking. NRG appeared much more prepared and cohesive.

The Challenges Ahead for 100T

Looking ahead, 100T will face the Brazilian teams LOUD, FURIA, and MIBR to close the season. With a current record of 3-3 and teams like Sentinels and MIBR trailing closely, 100T needs to win at least two of the next three matches to secure a spot in the playoffs. Mikes acknowledges the talent of their upcoming opponents but believes that in this league, anyone can beat anyone.
