100 Thieves dominate Envy in VCT Stage 3 Challengers One main event

100 Thieves Advances to Upper Finals in VALORANT Champions Tour Stage Three Challengers One

100 Thieves has secured its spot in the upper finals of VALORANT Champions Tour Stage Three Challengers One with a convincing 2-0 victory against Envy.

In the main event, 100 Thieves started off strong with a 2-0 win against Version1, one of the teams that competed in Masters Two Reykjavik. Envy also had a successful start, securing a 2-0 victory against the Kansas City Pioneers, a dark horse in the tournament who has defeated notable teams. These victories set the stage for an exciting match between 100 Thieves and Envy.

A Botched Play Gives 100 Thieves an Advantage

The series kicked off with a 13-9 victory on Haven for 100 Thieves, thanks in part to an unintentional mistake made by Envy. During a crucial round, Envy had successfully retaken the C site and only needed to defuse the bomb to secure the round win. However, Marved, Envy’s player, stopped halfway through defusing the bomb. This tactic is commonly used if a teammate needs to earn Ultimate points or is closer to their ultimate ability, as defusing the spike grants one point.

Unfortunately for Envy, they did not resume defusing the bomb, and both players realized the error too late. This blunder gifted 100 Thieves an easy win and a significant morale boost.

100 Thieves Secures Upper Finals Spot

Envy failed to recover in the second map and suffered a 13-7 loss on Icebox. Steel, a key player for 100 Thieves, led the team to victory with 22 kills and played a crucial role in securing their spot in the upper finals.

Next, 100 Thieves will face the winner of Sentinels and XSET tomorrow at 2 pm CT. Envy will compete against Gen.G in round two of the lower bracket.
