100 Thieves Continues Resurgence with Victory in NA VCT Stage Two
100 Thieves’ VALORANT team, 100T, showcased their dominance in a stunning victory over XSET in the main event group stage of NA VCT Stage Two. This victory has opened up the playing field for all six teams in Group A to potentially secure a spot in the playoffs or even claim the top seed.
XSET’s map pick, Breeze, proved to be in favor of 100T, as they displayed strong gameplay and maintained composure even under pressure. They took control of the map and won crucial gunfights on defense, resulting in a 9-3 lead at halftime. The duo of Will and Asuna led the charge for 100T, securing a combined 29 kills in the first half. The second half started on a high note for 100T, with Will and Stellar successfully defending a post-plant situation in a 2v4 on site B. Will’s impressive knife kills sealed the deal for 100T, securing a 13-4 victory on Breeze.
XSET fought back on Bind, punishing 100T’s attack side with well-executed utility usage, effective crossfire setups, and impressive Operator kills from Cryo on Chamber. However, 100T adapted with more aggressive execute strategies, turning what seemed like a dominant half for XSET into a 5-7 deficit. 100T secured the pistol round and, more importantly, won the bonus round to take an 8-7 lead and break XSET’s economy. Despite trading rounds with XSET, 100T held onto their lead and emerged victorious with a 13-9 win on Bind.
With this victory, 100 Thieves currently hold the top spot in Group A thanks to their tiebreaker advantage over XSET. Once the results of NRG and Ghost’s matchup on May 29 are determined, there will be three teams with a 2-1 record and three teams with a 1-2 record in Group A.
It is important to note that four teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. The seedings become crucial in this stage, as the top seed will start in the upper bracket second round, while the fourth seed will begin in the lower bracket.
