100 Thieves Achieves a Sweeping Victory Against The Guard, Securing Spot in VALORANT Champions

100 Thieves Secures Spot at VALORANT Champions with Sweep of The Guard

On August 14, 100 Thieves secured their spot as the final team representing North America at VALORANT Champions after a dominating sweep against The Guard.

Despite not qualifying through tournament wins or circuit points, 100 Thieves, alongside several other teams, fought for the last spot at the tournament. OpTic Gaming and XSET had already secured their qualification based on their performances throughout the year. Although 100 Thieves faced challenges during the VCT, they have started to come together as a team at crucial moments, earning them a spot at the biggest event of the year.

The Guard’s map pick of Icebox did not go as planned as 100 Thieves carried their momentum from their previous match against FaZe Clan. In a clean 13-7 victory, 100 Thieves dominated the series from start to finish. Derrek and Asuna stood out with exceptional performances on Sova and KAY/O, respectively. Asuna achieved an impressive KD of 1.66, while Derrek had a 1.81 KD and made crucial clutches to secure the win.

In the map Fracture, 100 Thieves once again started strong with a 6-0 lead before ending the half at 9-3. However, this time they avoided the 9-3 curse that had plagued them earlier in the tournament. Closing out the second map with a 13-6 victory, 100 Thieves went up 2-0 in the series and reached match point. Asuna continued to shine with an average combat score of 322 and a KD of 1.57.

The Guard’s struggles on their map picks continued as 100 Thieves once again dominated the match. Taking the advantage in the first half for the third time in the series, 100 Thieves capitalized on The Guard’s mistakes, resulting in a 13-8 victory on Haven. With a clean 3-0 sweep, 100 Thieves secured their spot at VALORANT Champions.
