YouTube now offers memberships at $500

YouTube Expands Membership Tiers for Streamers

YouTube has introduced a wider range of membership tiers for streamers, allowing them to set various prices for their subscribers, according to a report by Zach Bussey.

Compared to Twitch, YouTube offers a greater variety of membership prices for streamers. Initially ranging from $0.99 to $99.99, YouTube has now expanded the membership cap and introduced higher price ranges. Streamers can now add membership levels anywhere between $99 and $499, in $50 increments.

In addition, YouTube is increasing the tier limit for creators from 5 to 6 membership levels. This allows streamers to add a new membership tier without having to remove any existing ones.

YouTube introduced its membership program in 2020 as part of its streaming division. Similar to Twitch’s subscriber option, memberships allow viewers to support their favorite channels on a monthly basis. Members receive badges, emotes, and other benefits provided by the streamer.

YouTube has also made significant improvements to its streaming division over the past year. It has added popular content creators and expanded viewer features and monetization options. Recently, YouTube introduced membership gifting for select channels as a test.

Although some streamers are not completely satisfied with YouTube’s platform, the company is striving to compete with other streaming platforms by enhancing monetization options and creating a better environment for creators.
