YouTube Gaming introduces new ‘Top Live Games’ section to homepage for enhanced discoverability

YouTube Gaming Introduces New Feature to Enhance User Experience

YouTube is the biggest video-sharing platform globally, but it often takes a backseat to Twitch when it comes to livestreaming. However, YouTube Gaming is now taking steps to address this issue and compete with its rival. One of the new features introduced is a game-discovery tool to assist users in finding their desired games.

A new section called “Top live games” has been added to the homepage of YouTube Gaming users. It showcases the most-watched video games being played by livestreamers and provides information on the total number of viewers. This feature is similar to Twitch’s “Browse” section and aims to enhance discoverability on the site.

The update has been rolled out for both desktop and mobile versions of YouTube Gaming. Users can access it by selecting the Gaming tab below the search bar on the home page. The section displays the top 12 games on both versions, and users can expand the list by clicking “view all.”

To compete more effectively with Twitch, YouTube Gaming has been enticing top Twitch streamers to switch to their platform by offering lucrative deals. However, YouTube still lags behind Twitch in several areas, failing to pose a true challenge to the Amazon-owned site.

Fortunately, YouTube has recognized its limitations and is now working towards enhancing its core features to make viewers feel more comfortable with the platform.
