YouTube gamers can now transform their clips into Shorts

YouTube Introduces New Feature for Streamers: Turning Channel Clips into YouTube Shorts

YouTube has announced that streamers on the platform can now easily convert their channel clips into YouTube Shorts directly from the iOS app. This new feature allows creators to make short-form video content similar to TikTok, in a format that is easy to consume.

YouTube Shorts gained popularity in 2021 as a competitor to TikTok. However, it has struggled to compete with the dominant video hosting giant. Despite this, many creators still use Shorts to supplement their streams and videos by creating additional content.

With the new update, YouTube aims to further integrate Shorts into the creative arsenal of streamers. In a recent announcement on their YouTube Shorts community page, the website explains how iOS users can take advantage of this feature. The process is simple:

  • Watch a clip of a video that belongs to you.
  • Click on the ‘Create Short’ icon visible in the header of the Clip watch sheet.
  • The content of the clip is now imported into the Shorts creation experience.
  • Make any more edits to the Short by trimming or cropping the original clip.

YouTube has been focusing on expanding its livestreaming division in recent years. The addition of popular streamers like Sykkuno, LilyPichu, and Myth indicates that the platform is investing more in livestreaming. Although YouTube is not without its flaws, this new feature could be a sign of exciting developments to come.
