xQc’s Impressive 2022 Viewership Highlights Esports Award Snub

XQc Snubbed from Streamer of the Year Nomination at Esports Awards

Felix “xQc” Lengyel has dominated Twitch as the most-watched streamer in 2022. However, he was surprisingly not nominated for Streamer of the Year at the 2022 Esports Awards, alongside Ludwig and Mizkif, despite their impressive content and views.

xQc responded to the snub by claiming he’s been “lazy.” But the statistics prove otherwise. He has streamed for nearly 2,000 hours this year, with an average of 75,000 viewers per stream. This has resulted in a total watch time of 134 million hours, almost double that of anyone else in the top ten, except for Alexandre “Gaules” Chiqueta.

Why was xQc Missed at the Esports Awards?

xQc likely passed through the first stage of nominations, a public vote. However, it’s likely that he faltered in the second phase, where the Esports Awards panel shortlists the nominees based on the first phase report.

Several reasons could explain his omission. Viewership alone isn’t crucial. Instead, the panel considers three things: hosting live streams related to video games, building and sustaining an entertained audience, and innovating the streaming space with new ideas.

‘Innovation’ Costs xQc at Awards Hurdle

xQc primarily played GTA, with some dabbling in other titles. This lack of variety and innovation may have contributed to the snub. Additionally, his controversial sponsored gambling streams could have played a part, as the panel may want to avoid supporting on-stream gambling.

Despite this, xQc’s viewership remains a remarkable achievement, with him being the most-watched streamer in 2022 so far.

The 2022 Esports Awards will take place in Las Vegas in December.
