xQc should moderate toxicity in his Twitch chat, advises Shroud of potential harm

Twitch Legend Shroud Warns xQc About Mental Health Impact of Toxic Chat

Twitch streamer Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek has expressed concern for fellow streamer xQc’s mental health due to the constant abuse he receives from toxic viewers in his chat during every stream.

xQc, who has an average of 75,142 viewers per stream in 2022, faces a barrage of criticism over every small mistake or failure in a game.

Although xQc often brushes it off, Shroud believes that the negative impact on his mental health could have long-term consequences. In a statement on July 17, Shroud said, “I don’t know how his mental [health] is, but it’s got to be bad. If I had my whole chat talking shit to me 24/7, it would be terrible for my mental [health]. That shit will mess you up.”

Concern Extends to Twitch Stars in General

Toxicity in chat is an unfortunate reality for popular streamers on platforms like Twitch and YouTube. However, some streamers, including xQc, are more prone to it than others.

For example, streamers like Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa and Imane “Pokimane” Anys have also dealt with hate and toxicity in their chats. Both have found ways to cope, with Amouranth using it as motivation and Pokimane taking breaks to prioritize her well-being.

Shroud’s warning serves as a reminder that despite xQc’s seemingly embracing Twitch’s toxic environment, he is still human and vulnerable to the negative effects of constant abuse.
