xQc Gets in Trouble for Streaming Entire Batman Movie

xQc Faces Potential Ban on Kick after Streaming The Dark Knight Movie

xQc’s debut on Kick got off to a rough start as the popular French-Canadian streamer may be in danger of being banned. During his first-ever stream on June 19, xQc streamed the entire movie The Dark Knight, which resulted in a violation of Kick’s DMCA policy.

About an hour into the film, a Kick staff member entered the chat and pinned a message notifying xQc that streaming the movie was against their DMCA policy. The staff member asked him to stop the stream and informed him that the VOD containing the movie would be removed.

xQc quickly complied with the request and acknowledged the platform’s swift response. Although there was no mention of a potential ban, Kick’s DMCA policy states that repeated violations can result in channel suspension, similar to how Twitch handles such situations.

This incident comes after Adin Ross controversially streamed the Super Bowl on Kick on Feb. 12 without facing any consequences. Trainwreck, co-owner and official spokesperson of Kick, mentioned a “special circumstance” in that scenario but didn’t provide further explanation. He emphasized that Kick does enforce DMCA laws, as xQc discovered.

Despite signing a lucrative two-year contract with Kick worth up to $100 million, xQc’s channel could be in jeopardy if he receives multiple DMCA strikes and faces a potential ban. However, it appears that xQc was only testing the waters during his first stream and does not intend to repeat this mistake.

Kick is not the lawless platform some may perceive it to be. Since its emergence in late 2022, Kick has become a strong contender against Twitch and YouTube. With increased visibility comes the need to adhere to the rules, including DMCA regulations.
